The registered version of ZZT 2.0 was compiled a few days later and brought a few minor, related tweaks:

* The REGISTER file format has been enhanced.
* The ZZT.EXE binary has now been compressed with LZEXE.

== REGISTER file ==

As ZZT 2.0 predates having a [[ZZT.CFG|configuration file]], it used a different file format exclusive to registered users.

In the initial (shareware) build, the first and only line of the file would contain the name of the person who registered this copy of ZZT. The build which shipped to registered users expanded this:

* The first line of the file would contain the name of the person who registered the copy of ZZT, or <code>*</code> for a generic registration.
* The second line of the file could optionally contain the name of the startup world to be loaded by ZZT. If prefixed with <code>*</code>, the editor would be disabled in such a copy.
