At this time, articles are welcome on '''anything that's part of ZZT itself'''. Examples include (but are not limited to):

*'''Anything that's part of ZZT itself:''' Known versions, technical info, ZZT-OOP, bugs, official worlds, etc.
* ZZT's version history
*'''ZZT tools:''' Toolkits, external editors, font creation utilities, DOS emulation, etc.
* File formats and other technical info
*'''Specific ZZT techniques:''' Player clones, the kangaroo effect, etc. This is an endless topic, so let's stick to things that have been named for now.
* ZZT-OOP
*'''ZZT's descendants:''' Super ZZT, Megazeux, other ZZT clones like ZIG.
* Behavior and bugs

* The official worlds: Town, Caves, City, Demo, Dungeons, Tour
Be careful to keep a ZZT focus for topics that extend significantly beyond ZZT. For example, an article on DOSBox might briefly introduce what it is, what it has to do with ZZT, and any ZZT-specific details (e.g., some games specify a specific number of DOSBox cycles). It wouldn't be a comprehensive guide to DOSBox, though it might link to the DOSBox website and encourage the reader to go there for more info.

==Definitely in scope==
Articles on the following topics are definitely welcome:

===ZZT itself===

*History of ZZT versions
*Technical info on the ZZT executable itself, ZZT.DAT, etc
*Anatomy of a world: components (boards, title screen, etc) and file formats
*Tile types: player, lion, solid, etc.
*ZZT-OOP
*How ZZT executes a board (stat order, counter behavior, bugs, etc)
*The built-in editor: behavior, bugs, accessible colors and properties, etc
*Any other behavior built into ZZT, e.g., the Game Controller/Video Mode prompt shown at startup

===Using ZZT===

*Running ZZT: FreeDOS boot disks, DOSBox, Zeta
*Tools for making worlds: toolkits, external editors, font creation utilities, etc
*Techniques for creating ZZT worlds: player clones, the kangaroo effect, etc

===ZZT worlds===
In general, if it's part of an official ZZT distribution, feel free to make an article about it.

*The worlds that come with ZZT: Town, Caves, City, Demo, Dungeons, Tour

There are things that I want this wiki to cover, but the scope isn't 100% nailed down. ''Please don't create articles on these topics for the time being.'' I'd rather save these for later, and focus on getting a solid technical foundation first.
==In scope, but deferred to a later date==
I want these topics to be documented, but I'm not 100% sure what the scope should be. Maybe we can focus on creating articles that are definitely in scope first, and come back to this later?

===ZZT worlds===

*ZZT-related tools that aren't part of ZZT itself
**Toolkits, external editors, font creation utilities, DOS emulation, etc.
**For these topics,
*Specific ZZT techniques and engines
**Potentially an endless topic, so if we cover these, I'd want to stick to stuff that's been named, like the kangaroo effect.
*ZZT's descendants
**Super ZZT, Megazeux, maybe other ZZT clones like ZIG?
*Published ZZT worlds
*Published ZZT worlds
*Any relevant in-jokesor background info needed to understand a world
**This one's tricky because there's a huge number of worlds. There may be something worth writing about each one, but it's a huge undertaking. I don't want there to be a bias, e.g., most articles are about worlds from the early 2000s because that's the era that most of us are from, but maybe that's unavoidable and/or not such a bad thing.

*ZZT community
===The ZZT community===
**Archives, websites, community gathering places, ZZTers (and greater ZZT/Zeux community?), history and significant events

**I don't like notability requirements in general (wikis are electronic, no space limitations, etc), but maybe there should be ''something'' here.
*Community history: significant events (e.g., release of STK, AOL shutdown) and when they happened
*ZZT sites and archives
*Community gathering places (Zeuxworld, IRC)

===People===

*Creators of ZZT worlds
*People who played significant roles in the community, but never made a world?
*People from the greater ZZT/Zeux community?

What is this wiki about? ZZT! What precisely is ZZT related? That's the question this page tries to answer.

If examples are more your thing, check out the Requested articles page to get a better idea of what this wiki is looking for.

Currently in scope

At this time, articles are welcome on anything that's part of ZZT itself. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • ZZT's version history
  • File formats and other technical info
  • ZZT-OOP
  • Behavior and bugs
  • The official worlds: Town, Caves, City, Demo, Dungeons, Tour

In general, if it's part of an official ZZT distribution, feel free to make an article about it.

Not in scope right now (maybe later)

There are things that I want this wiki to cover, but the scope isn't 100% nailed down. Please don't create articles on these topics for the time being. I'd rather save these for later, and focus on getting a solid technical foundation first.

  • ZZT-related tools that aren't part of ZZT itself
    • Toolkits, external editors, font creation utilities, DOS emulation, etc.
    • For these topics,
  • Specific ZZT techniques and engines
    • Potentially an endless topic, so if we cover these, I'd want to stick to stuff that's been named, like the kangaroo effect.
  • ZZT's descendants
    • Super ZZT, Megazeux, maybe other ZZT clones like ZIG?
  • Published ZZT worlds
    • This one's tricky because there's a huge number of worlds. There may be something worth writing about each one, but it's a huge undertaking. I don't want there to be a bias, e.g., most articles are about worlds from the early 2000s because that's the era that most of us are from, but maybe that's unavoidable and/or not such a bad thing.
  • ZZT community
    • Archives, websites, community gathering places, ZZTers (and greater ZZT/Zeux community?), history and significant events
    • I don't like notability requirements in general (wikis are electronic, no space limitations, etc), but maybe there should be something here.
